OUT4IN TOOLKIT

Improving resilience and integration for refugees and migrant women through outdoor experiences.

Refugee and migrant women (RMW) encounter various barriers that hinder their participation in outdoor activities. These barriers include limited access to programs and locations, financial constraints, logistical issues like transportation, childcare, and social stigma. Despite these challenges, outdoor activities offer numerous potential benefits for RMW, including physical and mental health improvements, skill development, and opportunities for community integration.

Out4In project promotes the empowerment, community integration, and environmental awareness of Refugee or Migrant women and girls. It aims to encourage equity and inclusion by reducing barriers to participation in outdoor experiences for a target group traditionally underrepresented or excluded from this type of activity.

The OUT4IN Toolkit is one of the outputs of “OUTdoor for INclusion: Improving resilience and integration for refugees and migrant women through outdoor experiences” project.

OUT4IN Local Heritage Natural Guide

Out4In project promotes the empowerment, community integration, and environmental awareness of Refugee or Migrant women and girls. It aims to encourage equity and inclusion by reducing barriers to participation in outdoor experiences for a target group traditionally underrepresented or excluded from this type of activity.

The Local heritage natural Guide is the result of piloting activities carried out across the partner countries. During this phase, participants identified and mapped at least three accessible trails in each country. With the support of facilitators and local stakeholders, the RMW collaboratively co-created the digital Guide aimed at promoting local natural heritage. To ensure the accessible routes mapped during the piloting in partner countries can be consulted anytime and anywhere, the project makes extensive use of digital technology.

Promoting Activism Through Hiking

The goal of the PATH – Promoting Activism Through Hiking Erasmus+ project is to engage young people (aged 18–30) in hiking activities while simultaneously encouraging their participation in associative life and civic engagement.

PATH aims to address this important challenge and contribute to the following specific objectives:

  • Enhance communication skills in the sports sector, particularly within hiking associations and federations.
  • Co-design is an emerging methodology applied across various sectors and seeks to actively involve specific groups of individuals—such as end users (in this case, young people)—in the development process. It encourages creativity, shared responsibility, and inclusion.
  • Promote the European Hiking Trails through co-design initiatives.
